With increased activity around the black lives matter movement and other social injustice initiatives this year, the Acacia executive team has been discussing how the company can help to create meaningful change and demonstrate leadership in diversity, inclusion and social justice.  One of the ways the company is working towards this goal is through its commitment to the MassTLC Tech Compact for Social Justice.

MassTLC, the largest and most powerful technology association in the region, kicked off the Tech Compact for Social Justice on August 3rd, 2020 with 60+ leading tech companies, including Acacia, making an aggregate of over 180 commitments across their organizations to affect change.

MassTLC is working to drive an agenda within tech and across the community to achieve greater diversity, inclusion and social justice in Massachusetts. It wants to let the world know that tech in Boston is becoming a place of opportunity, and that Massachusetts Welcomes You regardless of the color of your skin, your gender, sexual orientation, or where you are from.

The Tech Compact invites companies to join by committing to make change in at least three areas that support diversity, inclusion and racial inequality.

Acacia has committed to the following three areas:

  1. We commit to introducing or expanding educational programs and opportunities on diversity, inclusion, racial inequality, unconscious bias, managing diverse teams, and/or creating a judgement free culture.
  2. We commit to providing increased resources to support employee learning and participation in activities related to racial social justice, anti-discrimination and/or volunteerism.
  3. We commit to advocate for public policies and/or lead with corporate policies that support economic opportunities and help to level the playing field for people of color.
